Study Program Selection Procedure
Undergraduate education at ITB is designed to equip students with a comprehensive mastery of scientific knowledge, a broad intellectual perspective, and a strong sense of responsibility in applying their expertise. ITB graduates are expected to possess the capability and initiative to develop and/or apply knowledge both independently and collaboratively, including within interdisciplinary contexts.
In alignment with the 2024 Curriculum, the placement of students into study programs is conducted at the end of the first semester. Program placement is determined based on students’ declared interests—collected through a formal questionnaire—as well as their academic performance and the capacity of each study program.
Study Program Placement Stages
Students are required to complete the Study Program Interest Questionnaire in three stages during the first semester:
-
Stage I – Conducted at the beginning of the first semester (during the new student admission period). The results serve as the initial reference for students’ academic preferences.
-
Stage II – Conducted in the middle of the first semester. The responses are recorded in the system as the Stage II preference database.
-
Stage III – Conducted at the end of the first semester, after the submission of Final Grade Reports (Daftar Nilai Akhir or DNA). This final set of responses constitutes the Stage III preference database and forms the basis for final placement.
Student placement into study programs is determined based on the following criteria:
-
The order of program choices as indicated in the final-stage questionnaire (Stage III);
-
The capacity (quota) of each study program;
-
The student’s academic performance throughout the first semester.
The official assignment of students to study programs is determined by the Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, in accordance with prevailing academic policies.
Special Provisions
Students admitted through study program development scholarship schemes will be directly assigned to specific study programs in accordance with the terms and conditions outlined in their scholarship agreements.
Meanwhile, students who fail to complete the study program selection questionnaire will be placed into programs that still have available capacity after the entire placement process has been completed.
