Academic Advising
Throughout their studies at ITB, each student is accompanied by a faculty member who serves as a guide and support system in both academic and non-academic matters. This faculty member is referred to as an Academic Advisor (Dosen Wali).
In general, the roles of an Academic Advisor include:
-
Serving as a point of reference to help students find solutions to academic challenges;
-
Acting as a liaison to direct students with non-academic concerns to more appropriate support services, such as the ITB Counseling Center;
-
Providing academic and non-academic motivation to support student success;
-
Offering explanations about the study program and the relevance of its areas of expertise to industry, national development, and scientific advancement;
-
Informing students about ITB’s academic regulations and institutional policies related to student life and academic activities;
-
Fostering student integrity and ethical conduct;
-
Serving as a resource for ITB in matters related to student affairs;
-
Collaborating with the final project (thesis) supervisor;
-
Supporting the development of scholarly character and professionalism in students.
Students are introduced to their Academic Advisor during the orientation and introduction to the First-Year Program (TPB). Further interactions between students and their advisors may take place by mutual agreement or in coordination with the Ditsama.
