Assessment System

The assessment of first-year students is based on several components, including the Mid-Semester Examination (UTS), Final Examination (UAS), quizzes, assignments, and class attendance. The weight assigned to each component is determined by the course instructors through coordination meetings of the teaching team.

In general, scores for the mid-semester and final examinations are expressed on a scale from 0 to 100. Final course grades are then converted into letter grades with the following grade point equivalencies:

  • A (4.00): Excellent

  • AB (3.50): Between Very Good and Excellent

  • B (3.00): Good

  • BC (2.50): Between Fair and Good

  • C (2.00): Fair

  • D (1.00): Marginal

  • E (0.00): Poor/Fail

  • T (-): Incomplete (Requirements Not Yet Fulfilled)

In addition to the above scale, instructors may assign a Pass (P) or Fail (F) designation as the final grade, depending on the course learning objectives outlined in the study program curriculum.

Final grades are recorded by the course coordinator on the Final Grade Report Form (Daftar Nilai Akhir – DNA) issued by the Directorate of Education at ITB. Students who receive an Incomplete (T) grade are required to contact the course instructor immediately to fulfill any outstanding academic requirements.

If the T grade remains unresolved by the time of the Study Plan Revision (PRS) period in the following semester, it will automatically be converted to an E (Fail). Students are expected to closely follow the deadlines for resolving incomplete grades as stated in the official ITB Academic Calendar.

Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA)

The Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) reflects a student’s academic achievement over a specified period, calculated based on the final grades of all completed courses. If a student retakes a course, only the most recent grade is used in the CGPA calculation, replacing any previous grades. This provision also applies to substitute courses taken in place of other required courses.

A student is deemed to have fulfilled the requirements for graduation from an undergraduate program if the following conditions are met:

  • Successfully completed all required first-semester courses with no grades of E (Fail), T (Incomplete), or F (Fail).

  • Completed all compulsory courses as outlined in the study program curriculum, with no grades of D, E, T, or F.

  • Attained a minimum CGPA of 2.00.

  • Fulfilled all academic and administrative requirements as determined by ITB.

  • Graduation has been officially approved through an ITB Graduation Evaluation Meeting (Yudisium).

Semester Credit Unit (SKS)

The Semester Credit Unit (SKS) is a measure of the academic workload that must be completed by students throughout the learning process. One (1) SKS is equivalent to 45 (forty-five) hours of academic activity per semester.

This workload encompasses various forms of learning activities, including but not limited to: lectures, recitations, tutorials, seminars, laboratory work, fieldwork, studio work, research, design, development, final projects, national defense training, student exchange programs, internships, entrepreneurship, community service, and/or other recognized learning activities that are credited as part of SKS in accordance with the curriculum structure and academic regulations.
