Innovative Teaching Workshop Promotes Technology and AI Integration in Indonesian Language Classrooms

Bandung, 3 June 2025 — The Directorate of Joint Preparatory Stage (Ditsama) at Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) continues to demonstrate its commitment to advancing educational innovation within the university. One tangible manifestation of this commitment was the Innovative Teaching Workshop organized by the Indonesian Language Course Coordinator, under the coordination of Ditsama. The workshop took place in the Visual Cultural Literacy Research Group Room, 4th Floor, CADL Building, Faculty of Art and Design (FSRD) ITB.

The primary aim of the workshop was to broaden the understanding of Indonesian language instructors regarding technology-integrated teaching strategies, including the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in academic writing. The session also served as a platform for educators to exchange ideas and explore new approaches relevant to the characteristics of today’s digital-native students.

Two distinguished speakers contributed their insights during the training:

  • Prof. Yusep Rosmansyah, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., presented on the application of Edunex as a digital learning and assessment platform that supports flexible and integrated teaching processes.

  • Dr. Dana Waskita, M.App.Ling., delivered a session on the use of AI in the development of academic writing, with an emphasis on caution, originality, and academic integrity.

The training focused on three main objectives:

  1. Enhancing instructors’ understanding of technology-enhanced and innovative teaching strategies;

  2. Encouraging collaborative development of creative and applicable learning modules among educators;

  3. Formulating follow-up action plans for implementation in Indonesian language classrooms at ITB.

Dr. Tri Sulistyaningtyas, M.Hum., Coordinator of the Indonesian Language Course, emphasized that this workshop is part of a broader effort to align Indonesian language instruction with the evolving educational landscape. “We aim to design learning approaches that are not only academically sound but also engaging and relevant to students’ current realities,” she stated.

Prof. Dr. Fatimah Arofiati Noor, S.Si., M.Si., Director of the Joint Preparatory Stage, expressed appreciation for the initiative and highlighted that such workshops are essential to strengthening the teaching and learning ecosystem at the foundational stage. “This activity provides space for educators to reflect, innovate, and move forward collectively in facing the challenges of higher education in the digital age,” she affirmed.

The workshop exemplifies ITB’s ongoing commitment to continuous development in higher education—bridging technology and pedagogy, and reinforcing the vital role of instructors in creating adaptive and impactful learning environments.
