Bandung, 20 June 2025 — Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) and PT Freeport Indonesia have officially signed a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) for the implementation of the Pre-University Program for recipients of the Tomawin Scholarship, held at the Executive Meeting Room A, CCAR Rectorate Building, ITB. The agreement was signed by the Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs of ITB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Irwan Meilano, S.T., M.Sc., marking the continuation of a strategic collaboration between academia and industry in advancing equitable access to higher education.

Representing ITB at the event were Prof. Dr. Fatimah Arofiati Noor, S.Si., M.Si., Director of the Joint Preparatory Stage, and Oktofa Yudha Sudrajad, S.T., M.S.M., Ph.D., Head of the Pre-University Program. Also in attendance were faculty members, academic advisors, as well as teaching and mentoring assistants who have been directly involved in the learning and development of the program’s participants.

From PT Freeport Indonesia, the event was attended by company representatives Lita Karubaba, Trian Purnamasari, and Sefnat Rumaiirusi, along with their team and seven current participants of the Pre-University Program who are undergoing their academic preparation at ITB.

The Pre-University Program, developed by the Directorate of Joint Preparatory Stage, comprises several core components, including Bridging Plus, the INSPIRASI Program, and Summer Camp. These components are designed to prepare students for academic challenges in higher education through the strengthening of foundational competencies, campus life orientation, and character and leadership development.

This collaboration reflects ITB’s strong commitment to expanding its impact on national human resource development. Through its synergy with PT Freeport Indonesia, ITB plays an active role in bridging gaps in access to higher education—particularly for young people from Eastern Indonesia.

The signing of this agreement also reinforces ITB’s position as an institution that excels not only in academic excellence but also in driving social transformation through education that is adaptive, inclusive, and transformative.
