ITB Participates in the 5th Papua Cultural Week: Weaving the Nation’s Future Through the Imagination of Its Youth
Bogor, 27 October 2025 — ITB at the 5th Papua Cultural Week: Weaving the Nation’s Future Through the Imagination of Its Youth
The Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) reaffirmed its commitment to advancing inclusive education across Indonesia through its active participation in the 5th Papua Cultural Week, held by Sekolah Anak Indonesia in Sentul, Bogor Regency, on 27 October 2025. This year’s event carried the theme “My Independent Village, Imagining the Future”, serving as a platform for young Papuan students to express their creativity, cultural identity, and aspirations for the future.
The event provided an inspiring space for Papuan children to showcase their rich cultural heritage, creative talents, and spirit of collaboration and self-reliance. More than a celebration of tradition, the Papua Cultural Week stood as an important moment to strengthen education rooted in local wisdom and character formation—values that align closely with the mission of ITB’s Directorate of Common Preparatory Courses (DITSAMA) in nurturing young learners from the earliest stages of higher education.
The presence of ITB Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. Tatacipta Dirgantara, M.T., and Director of DITSAMA, Prof. Dr. Fatimah Arofiati Noor, S.Si., M.Si., symbolized ITB’s tangible support for educational and cultural empowerment in Papua. In their remarks, ITB leaders expressed deep appreciation for the students’ enthusiasm, creativity, and dedication to preserving and celebrating their cultural heritage.
As the unit responsible for implementing foundational academic and character development programs—including initiatives in frontier, outermost, and underdeveloped regions (3T areas)—DITSAMA views this engagement as part of a broader effort to strengthen an equitable and impactful national education ecosystem. The Directorate firmly believes that supporting Papua means more than simply being present; it means ensuring that every Papuan child has the same opportunity to dream boldly and realize their potential.
Through this initiative, ITB seeks to foster synergy between higher education institutions, local communities, and grassroots organizations in supporting a transformative vision of Papua—sovereign in culture, and excellent in education.
